"Research indicates that hungry children do more poorly in school and have lower academic achievement because they are not well-prepared for school and cannot concentrate"
Collecting Donations:
Let the fun begin. Going door-to-door collecting the donations is very rewarding. Not only is it fun to see the outpouring of generosity from your neighbors, it is also a great time to catch-up with them as well.
Get a wagon:
You will want to have a big wagon to collect your donations in. It is also helpful if a parent joins the kids to pull the wagon or drive a car behind them to help with the food...it will get heavy.
Look for the drawing:
As you walk down the street, look for the artwork/image on the front of your child or teens letter. This will indicate who has food to donate.
Say Thank you!
As you collect the donations from your neighbors, you will want to leave a thank you note. This can be created similar to the letter asking for participation. It should have artwork and a simple and sincere note of thanks.
